Workout Wednesday

This week starts year two for Team Aspen Gym Rats. Last year our of 3000+ teams we came in 19th for activity hours. This year we gained a few members and look to crush that goal. Now the website was a lot better last year, still a few bugs to fix, but ready to track all those active minutes!

Let’s Go Rats!!

Throwback Thursday Tattoo

Back in 2012 I got my first tattoo, wanted it to be something that means a lot, and something I enjoy, so of course it was a Bicycle on the back of my calf and the side the word RIDE in bicycle chain.

It was a strange feeling but now I believe it’s time to get the next ink.

I was thinking of doing a Star for Stella, but have thoughts of waiting till she is older do draw me a Star and get that tattooed on me.

Next would of course be time to show my Hawkeyes love. I have looked at multiple designs and so far I am going to do something similar to this with a few modifications.

I am thinking right shoulder, but location TBD. I saw a similar one that has the Herky outlined in Hawkeye gold, so that might be incorporated. I have the flag not only for the USA, but for my grandpa Boppy, has he was a beloved fan of this country and the Hawkeyes. Things might change, but this is what I am looking to do, again with a fee modifications.

Work Out Wednesday (Amana Freezer)

Last yea I had a goal to run a 5k race each month. Jan 24th I ran the Amana Freezer 5k. I got a decent time for being in the cold, but it was actually decent weather out.

This year I’ll be signing up for this race again, and if you are looking to do a 5k race in January I’d recommend this race. Time to beat is 25:54

Now I just need to work on my Race Theme. Last year I did a different Superhero for every race.

2016 Begins and Resolutions

2016 has arrived, reached some goals last year, but not as many as I thought I would reach. I did run 303 miles for the year compared to 200 I did all of 2014. I did race at least 1 5k event each month with a few months doing 2-3 5k’s and even did a 10k race. I completed my 3rd Triathlon, which I got a better time but not by much.

2016 Goals or Resolutions whatever you want to call it.
1. No More Sweets! (Cake, Cookies, Candy etc… All except plain vanilla ice cream or FroYo, but any other sweet,  doughnuts, cinnamon rolls all gone. I gave them from all of 2013 until Sept 2014, and did fine.
2. Run another 5k event each month, same as last year but to add too it, I will run 1 5k run outside each week to make it more fun.
3. I’ll be looking to sign up for my first ever Half Marathon, not sure when or where so if you have  suggestions let me know.
4. I would like to get more into the blogging world so going to get back on track of updating my WWW.BADBOBBY.NET website.

Other than that, not a whole lot of new things just to stay living positively, stress free and just overall always having fun in  life.

The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

Book Rating: 5/5

This month for February, my BOOK PUB, read The Weight of Silence, by Heather Gudenkauf. When I read the back of the book, it was about 2 girls that disappeared. At first, it wasn’t a top choice to read as I am not a fan of child abductions. However this book was very well written. It had me guessing all the way through. There were times I think I had the entire thing figured out, only to be completely wrong all the way up till the end. On my Kindle app, it shows the % of the book I have read…I have to say that when I got to 50% from there till 80% it was a CAN’T PUT DOWN type of book. I could have easily finished it at that moment, but was too tired. I am also a fan of local authors and having this book placed in Iowa was great, to read the references to Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Iowa City…made it feel like I knew more about the settings of the story.

This is a book i highly recommend and I look to read more books by Heather Gudenkauf in the future!

RAGBRAI 2014 (Preparation Begins)

Well, the RAGBRAI ( ROUTE for 2014 was announce on Saturday. I had a guess of it being north, and I did guess Emmetsburg and Waverly, BUT that was all I had right. 1 key thing I like to hear *2nd Flattest route* Also, I think the day from Forest City to Mason City will be a AWESOME DAY! It’s the shortest day on RAGBRAI I have ever done…36 miles. I know it’s not a challenge to ride 36 miles, but that;s why I train for miles before RAGBRAI. I usually get in minimum 1000 miles before RAGBRAI, but to me RAGBRAI is not a race, not a competition and I don’t feel I am there to prove anything…it’s my VACATION, which means, biking, drinking, biking, drinking, camping, drinking, dancing and oh…some drinking as well 😀  It’s probably the best week I look forward to every year, no e-mails, no work, and to quote Bob Marley I’ll be “Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing, ‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.”” The only thing I miss when I am on RAGBRAI is my wife and my 2 dogs 🙂

This year will also be my 10th years of doing RAGBRAI and I am excited. I have met a lot of fun people on RAGBRAI (Team Black Betty, Team Fohty, Team Xtreme, and many more) But am glad to call my self a Boozehound from Team Boozehound! We like to Ride Right and Party All Night!

Most of all it’s fun to hang out with the great team!

Here we go!!
