The 99 Percentile

I think I am about healthy again to get back into full swing (starting Monday). I went to the gym yesterday and did an hour on the Elliptical. No problems, and on Monday when I walked on the treadmill at a fast pace I felt I could run. Starting Monday I will have exactly 13 weeks and 91 days until the Triathlon. It’s time to step up the training, with more miles running, swimming and biking while also hitting the weights hard. I found a 4-day lifting program that I modified for myself last year, that I am going to do the full extent for the next 10 weeks. Hopefully that will help me surpass my goals. Also I use the Lose It App on my phone to keep track of the calories I take in and burn. They have groups you can join for motivation and also challenge to be apart of. I was invited on there to join the March Madness Triathlon Training. I logged my minutes on my App for Running, Biking, and Swimming. It should automatically add to the challenge  It will just be another motivation to maybe rank in the top 5 within all these other Triathlon Athletes. I got more Physical Therapy today and Monday, and my last doctor visit on Tuesday. I think I am ready to go full force, I can bend my knee further with little to no pain.

Physical Therapy

Well I went to P.T. yesterday to get the knee and ankle looked at. Got some good news, I had a feeling that maybe I did more damage than I thought I did, but no torn ligaments or any serious damage. Its more of just a strain in the knee and ankle. I can start going back to the gym and lightly get back into my Triathlon training. I will start using the treadmill to walk so that it’s comfortable and so I don’t over do it. Plus I will start doing all the upper body lifts I can, and the legs lifts I can tolerate. I will attempt to swim and see if that feels OK, and I will also enjoy the hot tub from time to time.

I will be great just getting back into the gym. I can’t wait to be fully healed so I can get back to biking and running. Although the Physical Therapist said I could probably get on a stationary bike to test out the knee and help stretch it out. She gave me some stretch exercises to do at home as well.

Down 6…24 to go

So Yesterday was my weekly Monday weigh in. I didn’t make it to the gym in the morning so I went after work. I spent about an hour to burn an even 1000 calories on the Elliptical. I then went in sat in the sauna to sweat some. After my shower I weighed in and was down to 194. That is 4 lbs from my last weigh it the week before. It’s good to see the number dropping again, as in the first month it stay around 197-198 and didn’t move much.  I got another 24 pounds to go by June 1st to be at the 170 range. I feel if I can get to 170 before the Triathlon I will be in good shape. Last July I was 180 lbs, so I feel I should be able to get to 170. The tricky part is getting under 180. 180’s is my struggle weight where I can’t seem to go down any more. THIS WILL BE THE YEAR!

This morning I made it to the gym, well forced myself to the gym since I can’t go tonight due to a birthday dinner. I got in a quick mile run and lifted the biceps and triceps. It was a good work out. Tomorrow I am going to try and do another backwards TRI at the gym, since I will be doing the cycling class. Also since I haven’t swam in a few days

1000 Yards….SWIM

Well, last night I wrote this all out and when I went on the BB website today, it was missing. I’ll have to re-write it.

Yesterday I went to the gym to do some running and swimming. I went upstairs and ran a mile. I feel I am struggling a little bit on the runs, I haven’t ran more than 1 mile since the first time a few weeks back. I think I will try to run 2 miles today when I go.

However I was proud of my swimming. I swam 500 yards (10 laps) without stopping. I think my times was 10-12 minutes, so I will need to work to improve that since I did use the wall to kick off of. Right after I did the 500 yards I did another 500 yards of different strokes. I did some kicks only, backwards swimming, arm only with no kick and a few others. So in total I got in 1000 yards swimming which is good since I think out of the 3 events (biking, running, swimming), swimming would be my weakest link.

I think when I go today I will try and get in a 2 mile run, my leg lifts and some more swimming!
